Reducing Audition Anxiety
Hi everyone! This week is all about "Audition Prep" and how to ease the stress for those of you going in for middle school, high school, college and/or outside performing opportunity auditions. Check out this great article from NPR, "How do you reduce audition anxiety?"
There are so many things you can do to ease the stress of an audition, not only right before but in the months and weeks leading up to the audition. I often have my students "simulate the performance" right there in the studio, to prepare the body and mind for the real thing.
Making performing a regular practice makes a big difference. Whether it be performing your warmups for a friend or singing a phrase of your music to your dog, making performing a regular habit, as well as performing for your teacher in your lessons, can really ease the stress when in front of your audition panel.
What thoughts do you have on relieving audition stress? Do you have helpful routines you'd like to share?
